Selling a Genuine Group A Works Factory rally car. Prepared by Mazda Australia for Murray Coote in the 1991 BP Australian Rally Championship. Where the car won 4 rounds, to finish second overall in the championship. Also, going on to win two PNG Safari rally's and in 1994 winning the Qld rally sprint series for 4wd.

A very competitive car today capable of winning out right state championship events. This is a proven evo beater and a fraction of the cost to run and maintain.



The Mazda is a 1839cc turbocharged, intercooled DOHC 16v twin cam. 34mm tagged restrictor. Anti lag, new turbo.
Tuned for e85 by the Chapmans, was making 270bhp on rally tyres on the dyno but it has been slightly de tuned to ensure reliability. Still making over 230 bhp



The gearbox is a 5 speed st 205gt4 close ratio celica box only 1 rally old. Brand new st185 drive shafts
And a st185 rear diff

Running a full chrome moly roll cage. This is an extremely light car, only weighing near 1190kg when loaded.
As a classic this is legal under Prc regs

Chrome molly front custom control arms, improved caster and geometry. Quick rack steering


Still have the original vehicle log book, with all the original documents from Mazda Australia concerning the car.

This is a ready to run rally car

Car has been almost completely overhauled recently bringing it into the 21st century. Interior and engine bay have been resprayed. I have kept all the original parts so it can be put back to original.

Using teczel wire to make a complete new engine loom all professional done.

Custom solid bushed engine mounts. Motor/gearbox has been lowered and moved back to improve balance and centre of gravity

Do have a pair of 2 piece rotors just made for the car but currently not installed

The suspension is fully reconditioned 50mm Proflex suspension with canisters all round and have only done one rally

Since having a freshen up by Murray Coote.




I have missed out a lot about this car, way to much to list. But this is a very rare piece of Australian rally history with all the documents to prove. And absolute weapon to drive.
