Selling on behalf of the family of the late Jim McConville. Historically important 1000cc Formula 2 Cooper T75 Alfa Romeo, chassis F2-2-65 built February 1965. Sold new to Ken Tyrrell who had Jackie Stewart set a new lap record at Silverstone in 1965, BMC A-Series powered. Sold (with its sister F2-3-65 now in a Japanese collection) to Alf Francis (Stirling Moss' mechanic) who installed an Alfa Romeo-supplied 998cc twin cam (105 / Guiletta engine destroked) on twin 40s and a Colotti-Francis gearb

This car was built in 1965 as one of 2 that was run in that years European Formula 2 as works and fitted with the new BRM F2 engine. Some 7 cars were built and Cooper too the deacon to have its cars entered and rob by Ken Tyrrell on behalf of the works. The drivers for that works entry for 1965 were John Surtees, Bob Bondurant and principally Jackie Stewart. This car was predominantly driven by Stewart at all UK and European GP's. Incidentally, Stewart was 1964 Formula 3 Champion at that stage.
