1988 VAN DIEMEN FORMULA FORD $48,000 This car chassis number 1249 was the yellow prototype for the 1988 Van Diemen with Allan McNish involved in the development. 1971 Plymouth Duster Roller suit a number of classes, supercharged outlaw, top sportsman, super gas and others. Seamless mild steel tube chassis, funny car driver's style cage (20” at seat base, 18” at shoulder H 38”) will fit 6’1” 181lb driver. Rowe strut disc front with rack & pinion. 4 link, new Koni coil over shocks, new springs, 9” rear end, new SPE 40 spline floater 11/16 drive studs, 5 on 5.5, Wilwood 4 spot disc brake callipers. No center. Simpson 5 point harness new but out of date.

This car was built in 1965 as one of 2 that was run in that years European Formula 2 as works and fitted with the new BRM F2 engine. Some 7 cars were built and Cooper too the deacon to have its cars entered and rob by Ken Tyrrell on behalf of the works. The drivers for that works entry for 1965 were John Surtees, Bob Bondurant and principally Jackie Stewart. This car was predominantly driven by Stewart at all UK and European GP's. Incidentally, Stewart was 1964 Formula 3 Champion at that stage.
