The Ford XW Falcon GTHO Phase II is arguably the toughest of all the GTHO models Ford made. With all of the 267 examples produced having “solid” 351 4V Cleveland engines, 31 spline Top Loader gearboxes and differentials. Falcon GT enthusiasts would argue that the Phase II is their favourite. This example, restored approximately 15 years ago in its original colour of Diamond White with saddle interior. This car was built in 1965 as one of 2 that was run in that years European Formula 2 as works and fitted with the new BRM F2 engine. Some 7 cars were built and Cooper too the deacon to have its cars entered and rob by Ken Tyrrell on behalf of the works. The drivers for that works entry for 1965 were John Surtees, Bob Bondurant and principally Jackie Stewart. This car was predominantly driven by Stewart at all UK and European GP's. Incidentally, Stewart was 1964 Formula 3 Champion at that stage.
