This car was last raced at Phillip Island in 2016. It qualified 2nd but spun in the wet and hit a guard rail in a side front impact that bent the chassis frame. A new frame was bought and most of the supports radiator elements and cowls were replaced. The car's front suspension was not damaged and the wheel alignment is as perfect as it was when the pre-race work and oil changes were done before the event. 1988 VAN DIEMEN FORMULA FORD $48,000 This car chassis number 1249 was the yellow prototype for the 1988 Van Diemen with Allan McNish involved in the development. It was then a works car for Van Diemen in 1988 with the Duckham’s oil yellow and blue livery. The car was raced by Derek Higgins and won the 1988 ESSO FF1600 and British RAC FF600 Championships. It was third in the 1988 Formula Ford Festival, number 47. In 1990 and again in 1991 driven by John Thompson it won the Western Canadia
